COVID-19 is a difficult challenge for the world, and we have put our lives on hold while we collectively fight our way through this pandemic. While we find ways to stay productive at home and explore new hobbies, we might also find ourselves looking inward to analyze our behaviors and patterns.
This is a good time to reflect on our lives and reevaluate what is important to us. This enables us to try to find positivity in a difficult situation, which will benefit us long after the pandemic is over. Minetum has found 9 unexpected positive outcomes from the pandemic that we hope you can appreciate during this time.
1. Innovation has peaked
When many companies decided to make their employees work from home, they had to find alternative methods to work. This has led to increased innovation across many industries, and many companies are rethinking their old ways of working and will perhaps carry some of the new ways to complete tasks with them when the pandemic is over.
2. Realizing what’s important
Social isolation makes us rethink what is important to us. We no longer have the option to go out and enjoy life outside of our homes, and it makes us take a deeper look at our lives. We might question life satisfaction and are challenged to make changes in our lives to increase happiness. We are slowing down, taking a breath and refinding ourselves.
3. Extra time with loved ones
While stepping into the role of a teacher can be hard for parents, it’s also a unique opportunity to spend more time with one’s kids. Having more time with loved ones is certainly a benefit for many, whether it’s your family, friends or pet.
4. Time to try new hobbies
Many people have been wanting to try a new hobby for a while, but probably just never found the time to do it. We were just given the perfect solution to this problem, and the creative outlet of trying something new will help us stay occupied and therefore happier.
5. New ways to collaborate
Many people are dependent on the work of their coworkers, and while it can be difficult to communicate virtually it’s also a new and innovative way to collaborate. The collaboration between some coworkers will improve because they have to communicate more clearly and effectively.
6. The use of technology
Now we are utilizing the tools and technology available to us and this can be quite exciting. Many companies weren’t reaping the benefits from the advanced technology available to them, but now the door has been opened and will hopefully never close again.
7. Pollution has decreased
Because we are now staying at home, pollution has decreased significantly in many locations. We are giving the planet a much-needed break from us, and it is benefitting it greatly.
8. Sense of community
People are coming together to help each other out. Whether it’s by sewing masks for hospital staff, making school lunches for children or supporting local business in hardship, this challenging time is bringing about a lot of kindness, support and a great sense of community.
9. Social Media Hangouts
While spending time with people online never beats seeing them face to face, it’s a nice alternative during this time. Many musicians are even doing ‘living room concerts’ where they play live for their followers on Instagram and spread joy through music.
Minetum hopes that these unexpected positive outcomes from the pandemic will help you get through this time. There is a lot of sadness in the world at the moment, so we must focus on the positive aspects of this situation.
