High Performance Teams

A High Performance Team (HPT) can be described as the team that continuously are able to produce exceptional results.

Studies of teams that have continuously produced extraordinary results have shown that the following characteristics are present or are traits that the team has deliberately strived for.

HPT’s have a clear sense of purpose, and team members communicate openly with each other. In an HPT, people work in trust and in respect for each other. Although the team has a formal manager, the responsibility for leadership and the leadership roles are shared between the team members, varying from task to task.

HPT’s have effective procedures to:

  • Get and share resources
  • Make decisions and implement them
  • Increase the creativity of team members
  • Bring conflicts to the surface and resolve them
  • Collaborate with others outside the team

There is synergy based on the diversity of team members. HPT’s appear flexible. They willingly accept and incorporate change and they have an ongoing learning and development process.

The process:

  1. An introduction meeting of 2 hours, where the process and the DISC model ( A model for personal development) will be introduced. The team members will complete a DISC analysis each.
  2. Subsequently, 2 hours are set aside for each individual, where the analysis will be reviewed and where the individual interprets his/ her profile.
  3. At the end of the individual DISC processes, a one-day team development process is carried out where the team members review their DISC interpretations for each other and give and receive feedback.
  4. Subsequently, a team exercise is carried out where the team builds a model of Europe’s longest bridge. During the building of the bridge, the team gets the opportunity to see their individual DISC profiles, which provide great learning and development.
