Nudging Strategy

We are becoming more and more conscientious of what it takes to live a healthy life, and compared to just health we have never been more enlightened than we are today. Yet we do not always make the healthy choice – with negative consequences as a result. So how do we solve this problem? Here nudging in the workplace plays a crucial part.

Nudging is based on more than 60 years of behavioral psychology studies, which have shown that people’s choices are usually automated and thus often unconscious. Behavioral psychology is composed of elements from policy development, behavioral economics, service design and communication. In the life’s picture, nudging is on the highways, in the supermarket and at recycling sites. Small instrument triggers are used in the desire to promote a particular behavior. In the supermarket, for example, items are constructed to be sold together to make us buy a little extra. Traditional behavioral tools, such as control and information campaigns, rarely result in the desired behavior of the recipient, but with nudging, the idea is to help the recipient make the right choice without setting limits.

Nudging is refereed to as indirect communication, with the help of small loving pushes, creating the right conditions to promote the desired behavior of the employees. Today, we spend more time in our workplaces than ever before, and the workplace is therefore the perfect place for a healthy “revolution”. Small, cheap behavioral interventions can be easily implemented in the company’s daily operations and lead to healthier, happier and more efficient employees – which ultimately can be seen in the overall results of the organization.

We provide you new insight into how to use nudging as a strategic, normative and communicative tool. You get a thorough introduction to nudging as well as inspiration and tools to implement this in the workplace. Focus on nudging as a tool for changing employee health behavior and the teacher will apply practical examples, research results and theory to create a deeper understanding of the concept.

We look forward to welcoming you!
